Scripting - Object-click on-hover behavior

I'd like to request the ability to detect when someone is ready to click on an object in a scene but has not yet pulled the trigger or left-clicked on it. One use of this would be to make a button glow, for example. Or have an object rise up in anticipation of being clicked.

I see this being like how a trigger volume's action subscription works, with two mirror events: entering range and leaving range.
