MD vs Rigged triangle count

I have been working in MD a lot but the rigging in lookbook is bad when using clothing that is not body tight. Bat sleeves, long skirts,loose around the armpits area and waist, loose clothing in general turns out VERY bad when baked in the lookbook. It gets crunched, over weight-painted... It sticks to the avatar too much, resulting in weird behavior. So at times, I try manual rig in Blender. Same object, same tri count. Many times I can't as Sansar tells me tri count is over 8000. 

I understand, there is mesh reduction, can we pls have some system that decimates the same way on MD as on manual rigs? If only till the weight paint is improved or adjustable.
