ADD, i just hear it's set to local time. Not good. Especially because it's not clear what timezone. Prefer SLT time, that's more eay then guessing.

Your timezone is find-able by typing in your city into any timezone site on google. But the nice thing here is you don't even have to know it!
And a 12 hour clock with AM and PM is for normal citizens. The other time format is commonly called military time, can you guess why?
I have donme some thinking. Sansar really need a central time with optional ocal time next to it. The way it works now is good for a big pile of choas.
What is i say to let's say @galen and i say see you at 11:00 in Sansar. First problem you already get with the current system is. wich 11:00 ? Mine or the one from galen. And then we not know the timezones where in.
How do you ever think that people are going to meat each other if there's no reference time and clock in sansar to use. Sansar need like secondlife a central time for all experiences people can reference to.

People that use the 24:00 clock system are the smart people.

Gindipple: I also believe that Sansar would be better off declaring an official time zone. What good is it if I tell someone to meet me at 5pm if people don't know what time zone I live in? I have to tell them my time zone and hope they can convert okay to their own. Or I have to find their time zones and convert for each of them. This is impractical compared to just standardizing on one time zone.
Moreover, Sansar is inconsistent, period. When you create an event, the time selection is in your time zone. Then when it displays a confirmation, it shows it in Pacific time. Then on the event list, it's in your time zone again. All the while it never shows what time zone it means.

Well if there's bugs in the setup of events like it mixing the time zone then them should be addressed independently. But that's a different issue altogether.
You can still very easily pick what time and timezone info you relay to your end constituents. But from a computer automated perspective it is more ideal that it is in your timezone. Can't believe you don't you'd want the other. But not surprised either...
I might live in Europe and want to tell people it's in GMT The beauty of a computer version is it CAN do that translation for you. Would be silly to not take advantage of that.

The main reason I favor choosing a single standard is that it becomes easier overall for people to communicate times effectively by virtue of having a "common currency" of time.
To illustrate the point, take the example of a wholesale business that delivers products across several time zones. As a customer, you might say, "I'd like to take delivery at 10am". As a salesperson on the other side, I'd have to ask, "do you mean in my time zone or your time zone? And which time zone are you in, anyway?" And then someone has to do the conversion.
There is no way to avoid doing conversions. In Sansar, if we always see and speak of times in our own time zones, other people will be super confused because they will be forced to deal with time zone conversion math. And not against one standard time zone, but across all of them. And factoring in daylight saving time rules, to boot. This is bound to be more error prone than just having one common currency time zone.
This is why I would rather LL commit to one time zone. I don't care which. I'd love to see UTC used because it has no time zone and is how computers typically store globalized time values now. But I'd settle for Pacific time (PST and PDT).
In any case, I think it would help if Sansar's UIs showed which time zone a given time is in. And possibly offered automatic conversions right there, too.
