re running the tint test, the tinting on import seems to produce a result closer to the correct colors
I've seen it happen that tinted objects change their tinting settings when they come in. So, let's say you tinted it, in the 3d program to 200, 200, 200. Once imported, it changes the tinting to 155 155 155.
So here's a silly question - did you verify that the imported tinted object contains the tint you intended? I assume you did, but .. it's worth the question.
I tried a Trasmissive + Emissive material on import. It was opaque. When I opened the materials editor and did nothing but save, it changed correctly to selective alpha transparencies. Something's wrong with the import.
