Make Animated Objects Dynamic and controllable by a script

I loaded an FBX animated mesh (spinning light).  I then added a volume.  Then I made the Object Dynamic.  I have a script that would move the object (i.e. hide the object Z: -1000.0) because I want to have the light be hidden, but, then appear based on a chat command the script is listening to.  While this script works fine with a non-animated mesh version of the light, when I apply the script to the animated mesh version the mesh does not respond to the setPosition commands?  A couple of other people have tried this with the same result.   We need to be able to move animated meshes as dynamic objects.  It would greatly add to our ability to make compelling experiences.
