Updated Experiences get pushed down the list (I think)

My Reverspective Art Gallery experience was the 3rd experience listed in the Atlas. Not sure if this was because it was popular or not but I've edited it today and now it's dropped right down the lists. AND... it was a FEATURED experience which has now also been removed!

:-(

 

Why? and if we lose popular placings and the featured tag if we edit/update that's not really good because I will be very reluctant to update in the future.

I want my featured tag and popular placement back, please!

  Yeas that was fun. I saw mine featured. But maybe some guys that work more felt this was unfair. We just need to know the rules. Maybe they keep secret about to be able to set new experiences some far look. It seems that is a dice roll if we got first in the list. But must have some secret criteria on scripts, like most visited + most time inside.

  I'd be interested to hear more about how this works also. Editing it cannot possibly push you down the list...they want to increase engagement not decrease it. It also cannot be visitors/time spent because obviously the experiences that have always 'lived' really low down won't ever get a look in however much they are further developed.

  So how does it work? I've had a good search and found some really fun and creative stuff hidden miles down the atlas, where as some featured ones can be quite the opposite.  (edit - in my opinion, no offence intended)

  Although I don't plan the atlas to be a primary source of traffic when the time comes, it could be useful to know a bit more about how it works.

  on further exploration, it is a bit messy down the bottom. I visited one with just one rock!

  It looks like it might be sorted by date published? 

  I think it should be determined by time spent developing with maybe a size factor thrown in. This promotes further engagement by rewarding activity. Ultimately, I think it would result in better experiences further up, with a bit of moderation from LL.

  My experience made it to 6th place in the atlas. When I updated it with a new script so the sound would synchronize for all visitors, it fell down the list hard too. It is very discouraging to update anything if it means losing your rank in the atlas.  https://atlas.sansar.com/experiences/dutchie/beginner-yoga-session-for-headset-users-10-min-workout

  Ok, this is how it works. I've been watching it since February.

  Featured experiences are manually placed at the top. The rest are newest first, and will stay that way even after editing. When you edit a featured experience it will fall back to where it should be, in order of date published.

  However, if the experience is well known. like Harvest, Through the Waterfall, Little Giant, Respite, Picnic at Mr Darcy's, Dwarven Fortress, etc., then it will be found again and restored to its featured spot, without the creator needing to do anything, except wait. If it is less well known then the experience may be overlooked and forgotten. 

  I only got featured after I made a bit of a fuss, and by then I knew not touch it again or I'd lose my place. JackTheRipper stands a chance of being restored as he is speaking up here, and speaking up works.

  Count yourself lucky if you get featured at all. Being featured does not necessarily mean your experience is one of the best. There are featured experiences that appear to have taken very little effort..

  Lastly, give some thought to the people who may also deserve to be up there, maybe even more so, and are way down the bottom.

  We all know that the Sansar Atlas is broken. It is too linear and offers very little help finding good places to visit as new explorers sample this new world. And if Reid Parkin is correct, then it also proves that we each must do our own investigation, sometimes for months, to learn how things work in Sansar. The best we can hope for is that Linden Lab will elevate this issue to a level equal to the new features that are getting their attention.

  What LL is missing is a practical way to measure the level of interest in new features and feature changes. We are often encouraged to "post it on the forum". Right now, it feels like the forum is the place where ideas go to get lost in the weeds.

  Right now, there are 46 feature requests that include the word Atlas. It is hard to even find the one that we should be voting for that would stabilize the Atlas listings for all creators.

  Good catch! The Atlas has a few issues right now. Featured experience do lose their place when updated. This is something we're trying to fix asap. I do encourage you to keep on updating your experiences, despite losing it's featured status. If it loses it's status and we still want to feature your experience, we will find it and re-feature it again. 

  We understand that the Atlas is very frustrating right now, especially in the Client. I do have some good news that some exciting new features for the Atlas are coming up soon, which will make it easier to search and sort through experiences! 

  @Ethos - I wouldn't say that requests get lost in the weeds. While we don't get to respond to requests frequently, we are definitely looking at your requests and considering them. Some requests may be addressed immediately, and some may take a while to implement. We appreciate the feedback and hope to hear more!

  Oops. I just edited the description of my Clockworks Club and it, too, instantly lost its Featured status. Bumped down from the third spot, too. I hope they still consider it worthy of re-featuring.

  Yeah, I'm hoping mine will be re-featured too. I will not be editing future 'featured' experiences (if I get them) which is a shame because it will detrimentally affect the quality of the experiences when creators learn not to fix problems with featured content.

  This should be addressed quickly IMO.

  I wanted to add birds and sounds to mine, but I don't want to lose my spot either because I probably won't get it again :(.

  Thanks Cara, you also confirmed what I said in my post. I couldn't understand the negative ratings that immediately popped up after I posted my views.

  I meant votes, but they appear to be gone or offset with positives. I just didn't know why my post would be voted down. Maybe it's because I said 'there are featured experiences that appear to have taken very little effort', and I did use the word lame and edited that out. Maybe it was the word lame.
