How do I change my profile picture here please? I see some folks have done so! I don't see any option in my profile to do that, all I can do is change the password ;o/

Galathir Darkstone This forum pulls from https://en.gravatar.com/ so if you set up over there, it'll show up here (seemed to show within 15 minutes or so for me, or at least that's when I noticed it show up while I was browsing stuff).

Chris Jackson Yep, go to Gravatar and get signed up (free), then set the image you want, done. Takes just a few minutes.

Frederick Bond One can just put in a photo by clicking the picture thing by the link thingy here and getting a shot from one's hard drive.Small photos work best.

Richardus Raymaker I did read that already, not my solution. Then no image. Something like that you want to have local inside the sansar platform. And not need to use another service with another account for something simple like a small image.

Kallah Richardus, you create an account at Wordpress, which also can be tied to Gravatar (link above), then you upload to Gravatar for your profile pix, you can u/l several pix and pick the one you want to be your *main* avatar profile. Any site that uses Gravatar for a profile pix will then use the main profile pix you u/l at Gravatar and if you want to change your profile pix you do it on Gravatar and all sites that use that profile pix (from Gravatar) will change to the new pix you choose there. So you can u/l your own pix.
For the record, I don't like this idea for a couple of reasons.
1) People use different pix for different sites, Gravatar only allows you to use the main pix you u/l for all sites, not good.
2) As Richardus has said, I would prefer to choose my own pix specific to whatever site I am at and not have to use a main pix from one site that is then used for all sites that use that company. It takes choice out of my hand. This pix is not the pix I would choose for an avatar/virtual reality site where it would be one I'd use for another site.
Please fix this and allow people to upload a pix of their choosing or use one from another location they've saved to such as photobucket or where ever.
Gravatar does not allow me to be unique at each site it's used at and for that reason I would personally not have chosen to use that site for my profile pix. And besides, it's yet one more *sign up* site I would not have chosen since I do have another site I use for blogs and don't *need* Wordpress.

Galathir Darkstone Wordpress is irrelevant. You don't have to sign up at Wordpress, you can just sign up at Gravatar. I had actually never heard of it before I signed up here. Since, however, I have actually wound up on at least 4 other websites that utilize Gravatar. It does take at least a few minutes for changes made on Gravatar to populate out to sites that use it for reference.
I get the idea of Gravatar, which is to encourage a uniform online identity, which I chose to do a long time ago for myself. That doesn't counter the point you made about wanting to use unique images for different sites, however. I, personally, am in favor of establishing online identities so people can be held to account for their behavior on the net... but it shouldn't require a sacrifice of personal choice, either.

Galathir Darkstone @Richardus, while the avatar image comes from Gravatar, I assume the email cannot be changed at present because the team wants to make it difficult to "give" your access to someone else. Or perhaps it's just that the email address will populate from the Sansar main site, and that option isn't available yet. I just assumed you were, most immediately, referring to the avatar image, since that's what this thread was originally about.

Richardus Raymaker My e-mail is fine. but i do not go use some global service like gravatar. You want keep things as much as possible separated Especially with images you do not want to use the same image everywhere. That's not practical.
What's more easy then like you can do with other services just add a custom image on the platform itself. Simple easy and everybody happy. Optional you could use gravatar.
Yes i point to the avatar image people cannot change here.

Kallah I went directly to Gravatar to create an account but with that I also got a Wordpress account ... I didn't want nor need one but I have one all the same. I believe they're owned by the same company.

Kallah LL/Sansar, please put an avatar feature on this site. I really don't like Gravatar because I can't use one pix for one site and another pix for another site. Gravatar is not the answer if one uses multiple websites. I have changed my avatar in Gravatar but it's my SL avatar's pix, not my Sansar avatar pix and for yet another site I'd rather use another pix. Please, consider adding profile avatars to this site so we can be uniquely us here. Thanks.

Iconosphere What a bloody nuisance. A Gravatar can be created via Wordpress or gmail, BUT one cannot currently change one's email address in Sansar. That means one is stuck with a Sansar profile associated with the Gravatar profile associated with the Sansar sign-up email address, which one cannot change. Wow, nothing like making something annoyingly complicated that should have been simple. Either scrap the whole Gravatar thing or enable people to change their Sansar email address.

Andrew Lawrence I had never used Gravatar before I had to use it to set my profile picture here. I had no idea how many websites use it, until I had that picture set on it. I got tired of seeing my Sansar avatar photo in so many places when I least expected it, so I had to clear it eventually.

Richardus Raymaker That is why i do not have profile picture. i don't want to use that bad gravatar service that then update on other places your profile picture withoput you know where.
Sansar need it's own profile picture.
If it's to much work to implement for sansar.Then give us option to add URL in the profile picture
that is downloading the picture from my own webspace. -

Even though we don't like these forums, and the Lindens don't either and there's this whole other thing like the VR platform itself.
