It’s a new day and a new chapter for Sansar. Join us.

A lot of you might be wondering what we’ve been up to these past few weeks. Where we’ve been, what we’ve been working on, what’s next for this platform and its extraordinary community. Today, we finally have answers to share, and we can’t thank you guys enough for your patience and support in the meantime. None of this would be possible without you!

Meet the new Sansar. Recently we were presented with an exciting opportunity: strike out on our own as a new entity, under new management with a focus on premier virtual events. We knew we needed to keep together our team and our vision, and the incredible community we’d built over the years.

Lucky for us, there was a company out there just as ambitious and passionate about virtual events as we were - a team that is nurturing and expanding our platform to new heights, deploying capital and expertise in a time full of opportunities for virtual communities around the globe. This week, we’re thrilled to join their family officially. Join us in saying hello to our new owners, Wookey Project Corp.!

Wookey is bringing together some of the world’s most exciting technology verticals out there at the intersection of music and entertainment, AR, VR, and mobile.

Together, we’re turning a page on Sansar’s most dynamic chapter yet, and we’re excited to take you with us. We’re also grateful to Linden Lab for their many years of support, and we look forward to building on the work we started there.

What does this mean for you? More of the amazing events you know and love! More cosplay karaoke, more zero-gravity game nights, more of the massive interstellar shows that Sansar’s known for - thousands joining from anywhere in the world for one-of-a-kind live performances. You can also expect more features for meeting, socializing and hanging out with friends from around the world. Possibly even more ways to experience Sansar across different devices (more on this in weeks to come!). Nothing will change in your day-to-day.

In these challenging times, we know just how important it is to stay connected. That’s why we’ll be working hard these next few weeks to bring people together with new shows and surprises. Meet-and-greets and live performances from some of music’s biggest names. Virtual versions of the festivals you thought were canceled or postponed. It’ll be the most fun you ever had staying home!

Thanks to you, the future looks bright. We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Sansar wouldn’t be what it is today without its dedicated community. Big, big thanks to all of you still throwing parties, creating, exploring with friends and staying connected through Sansar. We’re ecstatic to be embarking on this journey with Wookey, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come!

Here's hoping we will get some things we've been asking for like good looking Avatars, Havok documentation, Umbra3d Documentation, A sit mode to allow avatars to ride/drive vehicles and aircraft, FBX compatibility documentation, Houdini asset support and a few technically competent, customer oriented employees.

I agree, thanks Garth! Also want to add editor improvements, material editor, more shaders, copy/paste material ID to use on other objects, ability to rename, delete material ID, and built-in uv editor.... inventory folders for better organization, search feature for resources when customizing objects, show/hide objects from multi-part objects, and improved lighting system to support IES profioes or similiar....plus see-through light and audio emitters, similiar to commom game editors like Source or UED....

Fix your poor VR support, it's like Sansar is stuck in 2018.

    Sansar's effectively dead then. Predictable!

I just hope they keep the back end running.  My real hope is the open up the code base to Creators like Hi Fi and UE4 does.  On the surface it doesn't seem like they have a big technical staff available to build features, but, we don't really know.  As an alternative I would hope for some kind open source like arrangement so we can help.

    Hello there, Wookey.

I wonder what's next. I wonder what's next for people like me who wanted to invest everything in Sansar with DARTS. I wonder how easy or difficult is gonna be to be heard and listened to.

I take Wookey's leadership will make Sansar  become "events oriented" and from what I've seen so far that means music concerts, virtual rave party style events and similar stuff. I dunno how to take that. I started creating my own music in recent times so I might see some nice development in the way I can use Sansar.

    And yet I feel concerned.

I feel concerned about Sansar being at risk of becoming just a "niche affair" only a bunch of groups and comminities wearing crazy colored clothes and other apparels like those we've seen on Sansar so far {all legit but, seriously... is that what Sansar is really all about?}, not the "big thing" in contents making and providing it was meant to be by its own huge potential.

I feel concerned about my DARTS start-up and for the future of Darts Creative Farm, the in.house studio where all the magic happens.

So i gotta ask you, at Wookey, what you wanna do about it. I develop new art exhibition scenarios and immersive experiences based on Fine Digital Arts and cultural contents in general. Darts is meant to provide museums and art galleries with new perspectives and Sansar can definitely enrich its own offer with what my vision made me do in the last 3 years. My concern is that all those efforts to make it happen might become vain, a waste of time and resources, even human resources.

I'm very very very concerned and in all honesty I really hope in hearing from you guys, at Wookey I sincerely highly hope yours vision includes offering closer attention to realities like DARTS and all those start-ups and other companies based on the simplest of the golden rules: "Content Is King". or i should say "Top notch content is king"!

PS: I know this comment is gonna sound bold, provocatively bold.

Fact is... I did read about "-thousands joining from anywhere in the world for one-of-a-kind live performances" and i say loud to myself... "Thousands!??? Seriously?" and saying so I shake, I shake like a leaf in terror. What the hell are we talking about? The right word there should have been "Millions", for all digital gods' sake... millions joining in.

I hope Wookey doesn't meant Rookie. C'mon guys, seriously... please do not waste the few things LindeLab made right among all the marketing and communication mistakes made with Second life first and brought into Sansar as well then, leading to what you did purchasing it from them.

I'm very serious, damn serious about this. Please do not underestimate Sansar's massive potential. You don't have to shyly step in to play just for not falling into minor leagues... you must run to win the damn Superbowl!!!

    C'mon... give us the Wooooo!

    Talk to me.

Since this thread has turned into a wish list, I'd like to see much better scripting support, with documentation and tutorials.

I've always felt that lack of interactivity is what has let Sansar down, and key to that is being easily able to script objects to make them interactive.

Thanks for the question, Davide. We appreciate your passion!

First off, Wookey is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have acquired Sansar and its incredible technology and community. We are huge believers in what Sansar has built, and its plans for the future.

When we talk about events, we don't just mean concerts and raves. We also mean any kind of event that can be dreamed up! Tours of virtual galleries, Q&As with artists and curators, meet-ups in immersive, interactive spaces like the kind you've created through DARTS. Social experiences where people can bond and connect - all of which can easily take place in the worlds you've built!

Ultimately, we see live events as an engine for content discovery - a way to bring visibility to the thousands of worlds our users have created. We have no intention of leaving that content behind, and we'll be working hard in the coming weeks and months to ensure even more people around the world get to experience Sansar and what it has to offer.

We all believe in the massive potential of Sansar and plan to take it to the moon and back. Short term we are focused on proving our live events model but wait until you see what's in store for the future. Wookey is 100% committed to the WIN. Stay tuned, you will not be disappointed!

    Regards,
    Team Wookey

That is something in the eye of the beholder.

It might be for you, I'm sorry if you are disappointed.

I just did not know what to expect and all I did here was learning.

And  to see what's comes next :)

Hey thanks for the super helpful reply. I'm not sure how I missed that thread. I haven't quite mastered the search function on here. I am going to bookmark this thread here https://help.sansar.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040978112-It-s-a-new-day-and-a-new-chapter-for-Sansar-Join-us-scamsrapid.

Franzen, did you notice that the post at the start of this thread was made in the depths of 2020, and that Sansar is the disaster that I predicted even before that time. The guys that purchased Sansar from LL seem to be having severe legal problems, all the promises made by LL in the dim and distant past have never come to pass, and SL itself is so desperate that it has got Philip back...
