The controls in this article are for using Sansar with a mouse and keyboard. To see available controls using other controllers, see Sansar controls.

Controls for visiting an experience

Avatar controls

Use these controls to move your avatar in VR and desktop mode:

  • Arrow keys: Move your avatar forward, backward, left, and right .
  • WASD: Move your avatar forward, backward, left, and right.
  • Shift: Toggle between walking and running movement with the WASD keys. If Toggle Run is set to On in Settings, you do not need to hold down the key.
  • Spacebar: Jump. Hold longer to jump higher.
  • F3: Toggle between first person and third person view.

Use these controls to move your avatar in desktop mode only:

  • Hold X or middle mouse button: Select a teleport destination. 
  • Click the left mouse button while holding X or middle mouse: Teleports your avatar to the selected location.
  • Scroll while holding X or middle mouse (prior to teleporting): Choose the direction your avatar faces upon completing the teleport.
  • Click a dynamic object using the left mouse button while standing near it: Pick up and hold a dynamic object.
  • Hold and then release the left mouse button: While holding a dynamic object, throw the object when you release the left mouse button. The longer you hold the button, the farther you throw the object.
  • Scroll while holding left mouse button - While holding a dynamic object, modify the distance you will throw the object.
  • C: Toggle crouch.
  • Esc - Toggle Mouselook mode.

Camera controls

Use these controls to control camera movement in desktop mode:

  • Hold the right mouse button + drag: Rotate camera to look around the environment.
  • F4: Toggle free camera mode on or off when not using a VR headset.
    • Arrow keys: Move camera forward, backward, left, and right (free-camera mode).
    • WASD: Move camera forward, backward, left, and right (free-camera mode).
    • E, C: Move camera up and down.
    • NUMPAD+ or =: Increase camera movement speed.
    • NUMPAD- or -: Decrease camera movement speed.
    • Hold Shift: Increase camera movement speed while key is held.
    • Hold CtrlDecrease camera movement speed while key is held.

Chat controls

Use these controls with text on the Chat app in desktop mode:

  • CTRL + X: Cut text.
  • CTRL + C: Copy text.
  • CTRL + V: Paste text.
  • CTRL + A: Select all text.
  • CTRL+T: Open/close the chat panel.
  • CTRL+E: Open the Emotes menu.
  • M: Toggle microphone.

Debug controls

Use this control to trigger the Script Console:

  • CTRL + D: Toggle the Script Console on/off

Controls for edit mode

Edit mode camera controls

Use these controls when editing a scene in desktop mode:

  • Arrow keys: Move the camera forward, backward, left, and right.
  • W,A,S,D: Move the camera forward, backward, left, and right.
  • E,C: Move the camera up and and down.
  • NUMPAD+ and NUMPAD-: Increase and decrease camera speed.
  • Hold left mouse button and drag: Move the camera left and right.
  • Hold right mouse button and drag: Rotate the camera up, down, left, and right.
  • F1: Toggle VR mode.

Action buttons

Use these controls when editing objects placed in a scene:

  • Click using the right mouse button: Select an object
  • Shift + Click using the right mouse button: Select multiple objects
  • CTRL + Z: Undo
  • CTRL + Y: Redo
  • CTRL + D: Duplicate
  • Delete or Backspace button: Delete
  • F button: Lock on to the selected object in the Scene Objects list.
    • Use the mouse scroll wheel or the forward and down keys: Zoom in / away from the selected object. 

 

Controls for avatar customization

Action buttons

Use these controls when editing objects placed in a scene:

  • CTRL + Z: Undo
  • CTRL + Y: Redo

 To change views around the avatar:

  • Use the mouse scroll wheel: Zoom in / away from the avatar.
  • Press on the left / right mouse button: Turn the avatar clockwise / counter-clockwise.
