Meeting Notes for September 29, 2017

The Sansar creator community learned more about the new Discovery Release, as well as other future features, in the most recent Product Meetup gatherings held on Sept. 29.sansar-0.jpg

The latest meeting was held at Starry Stars & Stuff, an experience created by Lead Community Manager Jenn.

THE DISCOVERY RELEASE
The new Discovery Release, which was unveiled on Oct. 4, emphasizes improvements to discovery and exploration in Sansar. For example, you can now discover virtual experiences by simply searching the Atlas in Sansar, and by browsing a new Featured tab for a curated selection of our editorial team’s favorites. It’s also easier than ever to find great stuff in the Store. New branding options for sellers now make it easier to find items by your favorite creators, while improved item sorting helps you better find what you’re seeking. The addition of featured items also highlights the best of the Store every day.

The Discovery Release also brings more interactivity to Sansar experiences, as you can now pick up, carry, and throw objects in desktop mode! There’s lots more, too - learn more about all the new features and updates in the Discovery Release via the latest Release Notes. You can also get a sneak peek at future release features in the blog post “Coming Soon to Sansar - Upcoming Releases.”

The Sansar community was invited to a live event with an Egyptologist this week.

“VOYAGES LIVE: EGYPT” IN SANSAR
Attendees were also invited to attend a special event held at Insight Digital's new Sansar-powered travel series "Voyages Live: Egypt.” Egyptologist, author, and University of Sorbonne professor, Philippe Martinez gave a live guided tour on Oct. 4 of select Egyptian heritage sites that were recreated in Sansar. The destinations include amazingly preserved shrines, and tombs, that are otherwise inaccessible to the public. If you haven’t experienced it already, check it out via the Atlas.

The community had plenty of questions for the Sansar development team at the latest Meetup.

COMMUNITY Q&A

During the Meetup, the community had the opportunity to directly ask questions and provide feedback to the Sansar development team. Here are some highlights of questions and answers from this week’s meetings:

What are the recommended dimensions for the new banner on The Sansar Store?

The dimensions must be 1180px (width) x 300px (height). See our Banner Guidelines for more specifics.

On The Sansar Store, how can creators stay compliant with the Store Listing Guidelines for items that are not visual (such as scripts and/or audio)? For example, the guidelines suggest that the main image for scripts “must focus on showcasing the script’s capabilities.”

We realize that some items are difficult to visualize, so we’ve made some changes to the Store Listing Guidelines based on community feedback to allow for more flexibility with the use of script and audio icons. We’ll continue to review the Store Listing Guidelines based on your feedback as our intent is to keep the Sansar Store easy to use for both creators and consumers.

Will consumers be able to preview audio listings so that they can hear a sound sample before buying it?

We do plan to add audio previews soon.

Some creators do not have credit cards and/or prefer not to put them on file. Is this really required? Will you support PayPal and other alternative payment options?

Following helpful feedback from Sansar’s creator community, we will not be enforcing the credit card requirement at this time. Requiring sellers to have payment information on file will help us to combat undesirable behavior in the Store, but we understand that creators around the world may not have a credit card for a variety of reasons.

We are working to support other payment methods, such as PayPal, and plan to revisit this requirement for sellers once we have more available options. Read more in the blog post Updated Policies for Selling in the Sansar Store.

What other improvements can we expect on the Atlas?

The new Discovery Release has added a search bar and Featured experience tab. In the future, we’ll add sorting and the ability to bookmark your favorites. There will also be categories that you can browse.

Will there be some form of visual icon that indicates if someone is speaking?

We’re looking at various options to make it clearer who is talking, but nothing specific has been announced yet.
