Import tips

  • Be mindful of the available attachment types - The type your accessory is in determines how it moves with your avatar and provides hints as to how that accessory should be handled. Straying from the available attachment types may result in accessories improperly following your avatar as you move around.
  • It is not necessary to specify a collision mesh - Accessories do not currently use the collision mesh.
  • When creating accessories, model against the reference avatar meshes - Accessories should be modeled relative to the reference avatar meshes. It is important that the transform handle for your accessory coincides with the transform handle for the reference avatar mesh. Find and download the male and female reference avatar meshes at the end of this article.
  • Prepare in advance if you plan to sell your imported accessory in the Sansar Store - Make sure to provide a proper name and upload an accurate image representation of the avatar accessory. These are reflected on the purchaser's accessories inventory upon buying your accessory. See Item Name for information on naming rules for selling items.

Import requirements

Some requirements and restrictions are imposed on importing accessories as of the release update on September 6, 2017Please make sure that your accessories follow these guidelines:

  • File type - As of the Friends release (October 31, 2017), both .fbx and .obj formats are supported.
  • Size limit - Avatar accessories have a size limit of 1m x 1m x 1m upon importing. Accessories larger than this limitation that were imported prior to the release update on September 6, 2017 should not break and can still be used and sold in Sansar.
  • Triangle count - The avatar accessory must be less than 15,000 triangles per accessory.
  • Proximity to the avatar - Avatar accessories must be close to the avatar. The center of the accessory must be within the Axis Aligned Bounding Box (AABB) of the avatar. The AABB's area is as follows: 0.6m left and right, 0.4 m front and back, and 2 m tall from the feet of the avatar**.
    Note: **Minimum (-0.6m, -0.4m, 0.0m) and Maximum (0.6m, 0.4m, 2.0m).
